Fire protection and emergency medical services are provided to the citizens of Thorsby from the fire station located at 26 Minnesota Ave. The department enjoys an ISO Class rating of 3 that translates into insurance savings for all residents of the Town. PROFILE:

The Thorsby Fire Department is a combination service consisting of approximately 24 paid-on-call and part time employees. Fire protection and emergency medical services are provided to the citizens of Thorsby from the fire station located at 26 Minnesota Ave.

MISSION:

The primary mission of the Thorsby Fire Department is to provide a range of programs and is designed to protect the lives and property of the inhabitants of the Town of Thorsby from the adverse effects of fire, sudden medical emergencies or exposure to dangerous conditions created by either man or nature.

ORGANIZATION:


In order to deliver the service needed to accomplish the stated mission, the department is organized into two major divisions:


  • Administrative Division

  • – Responsible for Personnel Resource Management, Training, Research/Planning, Policies and Public Affairs.


  • Operational Division

  • - Responsible for the delivery of field services for fire suppression and emergency medical care.



Of the seventeen fire departments in the county, Thorsby owns and operates one fire station with two engine companies, one rescue company and one support company. These companies operate as an integral part of Emergency Services. They also provide fire prevention, public education, emergency medical care, and C.P.R. training programs, etc. to the citizens of Thorsby. Thorsby has the only Training Center for Emergency Service Personnel in the county.
